Lorne is laid out along Mountjoy Parade, the Great Ocean Road as it runs through town, with the beach and the foreshore reserve on one side and most of the shops, cafes and pubs on the other. The pier sits at the southern end, the Erskine River and the caravan park at the northern end, and the roads climbing inland lead up into the Otways towards Erskine Falls and the Deans Marsh road.
